CUSTOMIZED VERSION OF BRU FOR MAC OS X BACKUP SOFTWARE TO SHIP WITH EXABYTE TAPE LIBRARIES

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona - October 8, 2003 - TOLIS Group, Inc. and Exabyte Corporation today announce they have entered into an OEM Agreement wherein TOLIS Group will supply Exabyte with a customized version of its BRU™ for Mac OS X backup software for bundling with its line of tape library products. The bundled backup and restore solution will reduce configuration errors and effectively make Exabyte's tape libraries "plug and play" for Mac users.

The customized-for-Exabyte BRU software is "tuned" to automatically recognize and configure the Exabyte tape libraries when the software is installed. Depending on the particular tape library being configured into the backup system, this process can take up to six hours. The customized version of BRU software reduces this configuration time to minutes. In doing so, the potential for human error typically associated with configuring tape libraries is virtually eliminated.

To achieve maximum backup system throughput performance, multiple considerations must be taken into account. The customized BRU for Mac OS X software automatically detects the tape device technology implemented in the Exabyte library (VXA, LTO-1, LTO-2) and the overall system configuration including system performance and interfaces used. The software then automatically sets the optimal I/O block size.

The BRU software supports SCSI and Fibre Channel interfacing, tape bar codes, and all Exabyte tape library configurations - regardless of the number of drives, number of tape slots, or tape drive technology used. The customized software can write multiple simultaneous streams of non-interleaved data to multiple tape drives contained in the library.

BRU for Mac OS X is an expansion of the BRU CLI (Command Line Interface) product, and provides an Aqua user interface that delivers the point-and-click ease-of-use the Apple user base is accustomed to.
