NEW BRU BACKUP & RECOVERY PRODUCTS EXTEND HALLMARK RELIABILITY WHILE PROVIDING ENHANCED FUNCTIONALITY

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona - January 3, 2002 - The TOLIS Group, Inc., a Talented Organization Leveraging Intelligent Solutions, today announces the release of their first new products since acquiring the BRU^TM technology this past July. The announcement encompasses new BRU and BRU-Pro products, new functionality, new supported platforms, and new packaging. BRU, first introduced in 1985, is the de facto standard of reliable backup and recovery services on Unix and Linux systems.

New products include BRU-Pro 2.0 Linux Server and three versions of BRU 17.0. BRU-Pro 2.0 now includes network traffic data encryption to provide secure communication between clients and the server and network traffic data compression to better utilize available network bandwidth. Internally, BRU-Pro 2.0 has been streamlined and now delivers blazing fast performance. BRU-Pro 2.0 Linux Server supports medium-to-large commercial networks and provides an expanded list of agents that support most Unix, Windows, and Macintosh systems.

The traditional BRU product set has been revised to fulfill the backup and recovery requirements of a broad range of systems and price points. BRU Workstation 17.0 supports small-to-medium size commercial network systems, BRU Desktop 17.0 supports SOHO systems with locally attached archive devices, and BRU Personal Edition 17.0 provides data protection for non-commercial, non-institutional personal use in the home. These three BRU products now include QFA (Quick File Access) to greatly reduce recovery times. Previously, QFA was available only in BRU-Pro.

Support of 64-bit filesystems is provided across the entire BRU product line and all products are Itanium™ compatible. The venerable BRU data format has been extended into the new products to provide unsurpassed reliability of accurate backups and restores.

Visually, BRU-Pro 2.0 and BRU 17.0 have received a facelift via Graphical User Interface (GUI) enhancements, new product logos and updated packaging. TOLIS Group engineers, consummate system and network administrators themselves, provide expert in-depth technical support if required. The same care taken during product development has been carried over to product documentation. The product manuals are completely re-written, and TOLIS' engineers served as critical editors to assure information excellence and pertinence.

BRU 17.0 will be available the second week of January and BRU-Pro 2.0 will be available at the end of January. Customers that have purchased BRU 16.x on or after November 3rd may be upgraded to BRU 17.0 for free. Users of BRU-Pro 1.0, regardless of purchase timeframe, will be upgraded to BRU-Pro 2.0 for free. Pricing remains the same as previous versions, and represents excellent value. Cost-effective extended technical support is also available.
